First step is to work out your budget—then stick to it. Destination weddings can be expensive if you don't stick to your budget and plan.
Guest List
Consider your guest list and whether it would be difficult for them to travel long distances? Keep in mind some of your guests may be on a super budget so offer them options for accommodation.
Save the date
You will need to advise your guest well in advance of your special wedding plans so they can be prepared and plan ahead. Give them at least 12 months notice for overseas travel and 6 months for domestic.
Take a short break
Visit the location you wish to get married in for a quick getaway. This will give you a chance to veiw locations, meet suppliers and confirm details of your special event. It will certainly put your mind at ease.
Wedding Planners
Hire a wedding coordinator in the destination where you plan to marry. Give your coordinator images of bouquets, cakes and more so that they can help you find suppliers.
Travel Agents
Speak with your local travel agent for group bookings on flights and accommodation.
Photographer or Videographer
Buy or borrow a digital camera. Traveling to some international locations you may be able to claim your purchase tax free.
Luggage
Only take the necessities. If you forget something you can always buy it when you get there!
Travel Documents
Make sure that your passport and visa's are up to date.
Cash/Credit Card
From my experience the best way to travel is with a direct debit card/credit card. Keep a copy of all your banking and emergency numbers with you, just in case you loose the cards.
